African American Center for Cultural Development

We proudly support the Center’s mission to preserve, promote, and celebrate African American heritage in our region. Our members have contributed through donations and volunteer work as the Center renovates its building and expands its outreach.

Baby Layette Collection

Congregation members donate baby items throughout the year which are then assembled into a gift bag for newborns of families in need at Olean General Hospital.

Camperships for Church Youth

We want every child in our congregation to have the opportunity to attend camp. Through our Campership Fund, we help defray costs for church youth to attend local and regional faith-based camps—strengthening their faith, friendships, and personal growth.

Department of the Aging

We donate funds to the Cattaraugus County Department of the Aging’s local services, ensuring that senior citizens in our community who have needs for vital programs, transportation, and assistance are served.

Fun Fleece Festival and Gift a Book Collection

Every year, our members tie fleece blankets and collect children’s books to donate to the Southern Tier Child Advocacy Center, offering warmth and comfort to children in crisis.

Genesis House

Our involvement with Genesis House (a temporary shelter for area homeless people) has been an on-going mission project for our church, where we primarily provide financial support and collect supplies on an “as needed basis.”

Harvest Sunday Food Baskets

Every November, our congregation collects food items for full Thanksgiving holiday meal baskets to distribute to families in need who reside in the Portville Central School District.

Interfaith Caregivers

Interfaith Caregivers is a caring community of volunteers that primarily serve the elderly, as well as the physically, emotionally, and mentally disabled and their families. Interfaith Caregivers provides friendly visits, telephone reassurance, respite care, medical appointmenttransportation, advocacy referrals and other support services. Our church financially supports Interfaith Caregivers.

Music in the Park

We are proud to be one of the sponsors for this community summer music concert series held weekly in the village park, supporting the arts and fellowship in our community.

Operation Warm Hearts

We provide financial support to Operation Warm Hearts, a non-profit organization located in Olean, NY, that provides clothing and other essentials for children of families in need in the Olean area.

PCS Presents for Panthers

We collect new toys and gifts during the Christmas season to donate to Portville Central School’s Presents for Panthers project.

Personal Care Items Collection

Our congregation members purchase essential hygiene products, such as shampoo, deodorant, toothbrushes, toothpaste and more, that are donated to Portville Central school to provide to students in need.

Pfeiffer Nature Center

Through financial support and hands-on volunteerism, we help Pfeiffer Nature Center preserve natural habitats and promote environmental education for the community. It’s a place where faith and creation care meet.

Portville Community Food Pantry

Housed within our church, the Food Pantry serves as a vital resource for local families residing in the Portville Central School District. (see Food Pantry). Our involvement with the food pantry goes beyond housing it at the First Presbyterian Church of Portville. The Food Pantry Director and Food Pantry Coordinator are volunteers from our Congregation. Other members volunteer as food shoppers as well as volunteer for the food pantry distribution day. We also have on-going congregational food drives that benefit the food pantry.

Portville for Youth

We support this local community fund dedicated to aiding local youth in need with financial assistance to be able to participate in sports programs, extracurricular and enrichment activities.

Remote Area Medical

RAM’s local clinics, hosted in partnership with St. Bonaventure and the YMCA, offer free medical, dental, and vision services to underserved individuals.  Our church donates financial support, and as volunteers, our members welcome and assist patients throughout the day of health care services.

Warming House

Managed by St. Bonaventure University, the Warming House is one of the oldest student-run soup kitchens in the country. We support their mission through financial donations, helping provide daily hot meals to those in need.
